Wildlife Awareness Intermediate Level course, participants will learn how to identify bear types, their behaviors, ranges and habitats. They will also learn the differences between defensive and predatory bear attacks. The best defense against bear encounters is to not have one, the course stresses the importance of avoidance strategies. The bear awareness component will include a discussion on how to handle and/or prevent a bear encounter with deterrents, if an attack should occur.
Who is Wildlife Awareness Training for?
This Intermediate Level Wildlife and Bear Awareness Course is intended for people who work in high risk wildlife habitat areas. It focuses primarily on bears, but also discusses other wildlife that may be encountered in the region including foxes, wolves, cougars, and coyotes.
Wildlife Awareness is designed to increase awareness and understanding of common local wildlife and to emphasize the importance of preventing encounters.

What you must do to help yourself.
how to use deterrents in the event of an encounter.
